About

The history of The Rock Church is a story of humble beginnings, daunting challenges, and miraculous victories. In 1981, Nathaniel and Mary Wilson, with their two daughters, Rebecca and Sheila, came to West Sacramento to pastor a fledgling church with just six members.

In 1982, the church purchased land in Elk Grove, on the corner of Bradshaw and Calvine roads, to build a new church. On January 1, 1986, the congregation of 155 people moved into the new, beautiful facilities. This was the beginning of 21 years of glorious services in that building.

In July of 1998, the church welcomed Myles and Sheila Young and their two children, Boston and London, to the pastoral staff. Pastor Young joined Bishop Wilson leading the church onward as they focused on the expansion of the church’s national and worldwide ministries.

Due to the rapid growth of the congregation, in 1998, an additional 10 acres was purchased just south of the original campus. This exciting venture led the growing congregation into the building project of a new campus. On December 31, 2006, the first service was held in the new 95,550 square foot facility. Today, the church continues to grow and is a blessing, not only to the local community, but also, with its many people oriented ministries, around the world.

Since the inception of The Rock Church, countless people have been saved, lives have been changed, addictions have been broken, sick people have been healed, and many other miracles have taken place in The Rock Church. From very humble beginnings, the church’s nesting vision has remained the same, “Helping People Become….” It is through this vision that The Rock Church has positively impacted countless lives. God has built a powerful church that is having a local, national, and global impact. The Rock Church is a blessed people!
